Modular systems for flexible solutions
Hydrogen is on everyone's lips for the energy transition. Hydrogen is the suitable energy carrier for flexible and transportable storage and thus increases the efficiency of the overall solution in combination with other technologies. Hydrolysis separates water into hydrogen and oxygen and requires electricity to do so.
There are three ways to do this
in the PEM (proton exchange membrane) process, a solid polymer electrolyte is used to separate pure water,
in the AEL process (alkaline electrolysis), an alkaline solution, usually a potassium hydroxide solution, is used as the electrolyte, and
in the HTE process (high-temperature electrolyser), the hottest possible water vapour is split with a solid oxide electrolytic cell.
The efficiency is highest with HTE at 90% and still very high with PEM at over 60 to 80%. However, due to the temperature, HTE is not yet ready for the market for regenerative energy. We therefore rely on partners with the PEM process. For example, Ostermeier's PEM electrolysers offer scalable modular solutions that can be expanded at any time.
